Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 July 2026. Cutscene Replay is operated in the United Kingdom, who acts as the data controller for personal information processed through the Cutscene Replay website, customer accounts, licensing systems, and support services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you use the Cutscene Replay website, start a trial, purchase or manage a subscription, create an account, or contact support, we may collect information including your name, email address, billing address, account details, order and subscription history, licence information, and the contents of communications you send to us.

If you participate in a creator, testing, affiliate, or feedback programme, we may also retain the information you provide in connection with that programme, including feedback, correspondence, and any agreed account or licence status.

1.2 Technical and Usage Information

We may collect limited technical information required to operate, protect, and improve the website and software. This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, device information, application version, approximate region, website activity, licence validation timestamps, activation status, and diagnostic or error information.

Diagnostic logs or files are not automatically treated as support submissions. Where the software provides an option to send diagnostic information, logs, screenshots, recordings, or project files to us, they are provided only when you choose to submit them.

1.3 Information Required to Provide the Service

Certain information is required to create and maintain an account, process a payment, provide a trial or subscription, validate a licence, or respond to a support request. If you do not provide the required information, we may be unable to provide the relevant service.

2. How and Why We Use Your Data

We use personal information only where we have a lawful basis to do so. Depending on the circumstances, this may include performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests, or your consent.

Contract: to create and manage accounts, provide free trials and paid subscriptions, process orders, activate and validate licences, deliver software access and updates, and provide requested customer support.
Legal obligations: to maintain financial and transaction records, comply with tax and accounting requirements, respond to lawful requests, and meet our legal and regulatory duties.
Legitimate interests: to secure the website and software, prevent fraud and licence abuse, diagnose faults, maintain service reliability, understand product performance, improve Cutscene Replay, and protect our legal rights.
Consent: where required for optional analytics, non-essential cookies, marketing communications, or any optional submission of information that is not necessary to provide the service.

We may use anonymised or aggregated information that no longer identifies an individual to analyse performance, understand general usage patterns, improve features, and plan future development.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.

3. Cutscene Replay Software, Recordings, and Licensing

3.1 Locally Processed Recordings

Cutscene Replay is designed to capture and process screen or window footage, webcam video, audio, replay buffers, source files, and exported clips locally on your device. This recorded content is not automatically uploaded to Cutscene Replay, and we do not routinely access, view, analyse, or store it.

You are responsible for the security, backup, use, and lawful handling of recordings and other content stored on your device. Cutscene Replay does not provide automatic cloud storage or recovery for locally stored recordings unless a separate feature expressly states otherwise.

3.2 Support Files and User-Submitted Content

If you voluntarily send us recordings, screenshots, logs, project files, or other content for troubleshooting or feedback, we will use that material only for the purpose for which it was supplied, such as investigating a reported fault, reproducing an issue, or reviewing requested feedback.

Support material may contain personal information belonging to you or other people. You should remove or obscure unnecessary personal information before submission and ensure that you have the right to share the material with us.

3.3 Licence Validation

To provide trials, subscriptions, account access, updates, and paid features, Cutscene Replay may communicate with our licensing systems. Licence checks may process information such as a licence or account identifier, activation status, application version, device or installation identifier, IP address, and the date and time of validation.

Licence validation does not require us to receive the content of your recordings. Information used for licence validation may be retained where necessary to operate the service, prevent abuse, investigate faults, and enforce the applicable licence terms.

4. Orders, Subscriptions, and Payments

The Cutscene Replay website uses WordPress and WooCommerce to provide account, checkout, order, subscription, and licence-management functionality. These systems store customer and transaction information required to administer purchases, free trials, renewals, cancellations, refunds, invoices, downloads, and licence access.

Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store complete payment card details on our own servers. Payment providers may process your name, billing details, payment information, IP address, and transaction information in accordance with their own privacy terms and legal obligations.

If you obtain Cutscene Replay through the Microsoft Store or another authorised marketplace, that marketplace may independently process account, device, payment, purchase, entitlement, and usage information. We may receive limited information needed to confirm your purchase or entitlement, but the marketplace acts under its own privacy policy for data it controls.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Cutscene Replay website uses cookies and similar storage technologies to provide essential functionality and, where enabled, to remember preferences, measure performance, and understand how the website is used.

Strictly necessary cookies: used for security, account sessions, shopping basket, checkout, subscription management, cookie preferences, and other functions required for the website to operate.
Preference cookies: used to remember choices and improve your experience.
Analytics cookies: used, where enabled and permitted, to understand website traffic and performance.
Marketing technologies: used only where implemented and where the required consent has been obtained.

Non-essential cookies and similar technologies will not be used before consent where consent is legally required. You can accept, reject, or change your choices through the cookie controls made available on the website. You can also manage cookies through your browser, although blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the website from functioning correctly.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share personal information only where necessary with trusted service providers or other recipients, including:

website hosting, security, backup, and technical service providers;
payment processors, banks, accounting services, and fraud-prevention providers;
WordPress, WooCommerce, email-delivery, licence-management, customer-support, and analytics providers;
Microsoft or another authorised software marketplace where you use that marketplace;
professional advisers, insurers, regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies, or public authorities where reasonably necessary or legally required; and
a purchaser or successor if the Cutscene Replay business or relevant assets are sold, transferred, or reorganised, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection safeguards.

Service providers acting on our behalf are permitted to process personal information only for the services they provide to us and must protect it appropriately. Some providers may act as independent controllers for their own activities, such as payment processing or marketplace account administration.

7. International Data Transfers

Some service providers may process or store personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure that an appropriate legal safeguard applies, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism.

You may contact us for further information about the safeguards used for a particular international transfer.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing the service, maintaining licence and subscription records, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal, tax, and accounting requirements.

Retention periods vary according to the type of information. Account and transaction records may be retained for the period required by law and for an appropriate period afterward to address legal or contractual claims. Technical and licence logs are retained only while reasonably necessary for security, reliability, support, and abuse prevention.

Support correspondence and voluntarily submitted diagnostic material may be retained while a case is active and for a limited period afterward, then deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required, subject to backup cycles and legal obligations. Local recordings that you do not submit to us remain under your control and are not subject to our retention processes.

9. Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis used, you may have the right to:

request access to personal information we hold about you;
request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
request deletion of personal information;
request restriction of processing;
receive certain information in a portable format;
object to processing based on legitimate interests;
object at any time to the use of your information for direct marketing; and
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Your right to object: Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object to that processing. We will stop processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing is required for legal claims.

To exercise a right, contact us using the details provided on the Cutscene Replay website. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some rights are subject to legal conditions and exemptions, and we will explain any lawful reason why a request cannot be fulfilled in full.

10. Complaints, Security, and Policy Updates

10.1 Data Protection Complaints

You may raise a privacy or data protection complaint using the contact form or support details published on the Cutscene Replay website. Please identify the message as a data protection complaint and provide enough information for us to investigate.

We will acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days, investigate it appropriately, and communicate the outcome. We may contact you for further information where necessary.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the United Kingdom’s data protection regulator. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first, but you are not required to contact us before approaching the regulator.

10.2 Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These measures may include access controls, secure hosting, encryption in transit where appropriate, software updates, backups, and limiting access to those who require it.

No website, software system, or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, device, operating system, recordings, and local files secure.

10.3 Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy & Cookie Policy to reflect changes to Cutscene Replay, our service providers, or applicable law. The latest version will be published on this page and the date at the top of the policy will be updated. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, software, account area, or email where appropriate.
